Arkansas WALKER Obituaries

John Thomas WALKER, Sr. 1888-1962 - Ouachita County, AR


J. T. WALKER, Sr., aged 73, well known Ouachita County, AR man and retired lumberman of Chidester, died at his home at 11:45 p.m. Saturday.


Mr. WALKER and his brother the late Fred WALKER owned and operated a sawmill at Chidester for many years. He also had farming and cattle interests near Chidester. He was a member of the school board at Chidester for a number of years, a charter member of the Lions Club, a past director of the Bank of Chidester, and a member of Silver Springs Methodist Church.


He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Autna DENNIS WALKER; a son, J. T. WALKER, Jr. of Chidester; two daughters, Mrs. E. L. DICKERSON of Leesville, LA, and Mrs. Buster GEAN of Hearne, TX; one brother, Will WALKER of Camden; two sisters, Mrs. Will JENKINS and Mrs. Willie HARWELL both of Troy; five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.


Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Chidester Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. H. R. Nabors, and Rev. W. R. JOHNSON. Burial will be in the Chidester cemetery by Proctor Funeral Home. Casket bearers are Dennis WRIGHT, Steen EPPERSON, Jesse DUNN, Doyle HARVEY, Joe PURIFOY, and Ruby BEAVER.
